with a jailbroken ipod touch you can add 3rd party sources for apps that have many useful appls.
otherwise you’re limited to apps in the app store. think about it – even if you could download free applications from some website there’s no way (at least on a non-jailbroken ipod) to get the apps onto the ipod.
