sorry you can never ever download any games off the internet ever unless you were buying them off the internet in the software that you are talking about is it the pc game that you download with if so that would be the only way to play your game if this is what your talking about

The only way it can mess up ur computer is if the games have viruses in them.Before you download a game look at the comments (if it has them)and if there was a virus in the game someone would post a comment about it.Ive downloaded HEAPS of free games and ive only come across about 2 viruses.But they didnt do anything because my antivirus program (AVG) detected them and got rid of them.So if you have a good up-to-date antivirus program u should be fine.Im guesing its your parents that said the problems with the pc are caused by the games.But its not unless the pc has a virus.
So in conclusion its fine they wont mess up your pc but to be on the safe side get a good antivirus program
Okay Im not sure what that guy is saying above me but you know something, there ARE free games you can play online, strap yourself into the wonderful world of MMORPGs, they are addictive and YES! they are free!
